112 Day main celebration in the Jokilaaksot region

The national main celebration of 112 Day will be held in the Jokilaaksot region. The main event will take place in the lively market town of Ylivieska. There will also be three coordinated satellite events.

The main event will draw on the strengths of cooperating safety experts in the Jokilaaksot region. The Jokilaaksot region has a mixture of trade, tourism, production and traditional agriculture. The eastern half of the area has an ageing and declining population, while the western half is more robust. There are also some sparsely populated areas where securing the availability of public services is more challenging than usual.

The event in Pyhäjärvi will focus on traffic safety, involving the rescue services, the police, the National Traffic Police, the Central Association for Traffic Safety in Finland and the Automobile and Touring Club of Finland.

The event in Siikalatva will be a school safety talk jointly organised with the rescue services and the police. This is hoped to result in a lasting model for cooperation between the school liaison persons with the police and the rescue services. The event in Raahe will focus on safety on the water and will involve the rescue services, the police, the Border Guard, the Finnish Lifeboat Institution and the Finnish Association for Swimming Instruction and Life Saving.

There will be three events at Ylivieskatalo Akustiikka on 11 February. The first, in the morning, is aimed at students and schoolchildren. The second is the main event of the day, focusing on current themes through talks, music and theatre. It will include a panel discussion on basic safety. The third event, in the evening, is open for everyone.

We would like to welcome you to the national main celebration!
