The 112 Day national working group presented the Everyday Hero award to Aapo Huttunen at a ceremony at the Ministry of the Interior at the end of January.

The national main event of 112 Day in 2012 will be held in Tornio-Haaparanta. This will be the first international event in the 112 campaign in Finland.

In December, the national working group of the Finnish 112 Day proposed to the European Union that a single, uniform graphic layout should be adopted for the EU emergency number to improve recognition and recall of 112 throughout Europe.

112 Day is about everyday safety and how you can help improve your own safety and that of your family and friends. Everyday Heroes will be celebrated again on 11 February 2012.

The national main event of 112 Day will be held in Tornio-Haaparanta on 11 February 2012.

The national main celebration of 112 Day will be held in the Jokilaaksot region. The main event will take place in the lively market town of Ylivieska. There will also be three coordinated satellite events.

More than 200 safety events were organised on 11 February to enlighten citizens on how to be active and responsible when faced with day-to-day situations of danger.

The European Commission, together with the European Parliament and European Council, has declared 11 February as European 112 Day.
