112 Day

112 Day is a national emergency number theme day dedicated to everyday safety and to how everyone can help improve it. Our aim is to make Finland the safest country in Europe.

There will be 112 Day events at many locations, the aim being to draw people’s attention to the prevention of injury and accidents. Many accidents, fires and crimes can be avoided through methodical action. Information will also be handed out on 112 Day, and people will be instructed how to act correctly in emergencies.

112 Day also serves to remind us of the emergency number itself, and that 112 now works for all EU countries. Information about the emergency number includes reminders on when it is important to phone it and when it is a better idea to phone someone else. But if there is a real emergency, never hesitate to call 112!

Each year 112 Day is celebrated on 11 February all over Finland. This tradition was introduced in 1997. 112 Day events are organised by a number of safety actors working in cooperation.

Suomen 112-päivä on myös osa Euroopan yhteistä 112-päivää. EU:n kansalaisia valistetaan 112-päivänä eri puolilla Eurooppaa hätänumerosta 112 ja sen asianmukaisesta käytöstä. European 112 Day »
