Tiina Koivula, Everyday Hero: The wellbeing of the elderly is everything

“I’m at a loss for words,” said Tiina Koivula when she was informed of her nomination as Everyday Hero of the Year 2013. She is matron and caretaker of the row houses that belong to Teuvan vanhustenkotiyhdistys, the Teuva old people’s homes association; she is responsible for the day-to-day wellbeing and safety of about 50 elderly residents.

Signs with 112 emergency number displayed at Kittilä airport

As part of the 112 Day campaign in 2013, signs informing passengers of the 112 emergency number were set up at Kittilä airport. Every year, the 112 Day campaign seeks to do something significant to promote awareness of the 112 emergency number. The actual 112 Day is on 11 February 2013.
