Accidents happen on the road, at work, at home and on holiday. Nearly 80% of all accidents occur in the home and during leisure time, to people of all ages – at home, on shopping trips, in the gym, while decorating or renovating. Each year in Finland around 900,000 accidents occur that result in some form of injury, and around 3,000 accident-related deaths.
Children should learn how to avoid danger and what to do in a dangerous situation on the way to or from school or at home. The majority of accidents occur in the home, and children and the elderly are most susceptible.
Learning about the emergency number and how to act in a dangerous situation should be practised in a way that is suitable for the age of the child. When an emergency arises, you just need to remember 112 and make the call.
